Black Forest Torte

CAKE:

1¾ cup flour
1¾ cup sugar
1¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking powder
2/3 cup margarine
4 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1¼ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs

Grease four 9" cake pans.

In large mixer bowl, combine flour through vanilla. Beat. Add eggs. Pour ¼ batter (about 1 cup) in each pan. Bake at 350° for 15-18 minutes. Cool slightly and remove. Cool.

CHOCOLATE FILLING:

1½ (4 oz) bars German chocolate
¾ cup margarine
½ cup chopped, toasted almonds

Melt chocolate. Cool. Blend in margarine. Stir in almonds. Chill.

CREAM FILLING:

2 cups whipping cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat whipping cream with sugar and vanilla.

TO FINISH:

Alternate fillings with bottom layer chocolate. Refrigerate. Freezes nicely.
