Chocolate Dream Cake

2 cups sifted flour
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup water
¼ cup cocoa
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Sift flour and sugar into mixing bowl. Bring to rapid boil in saucepan the margarine, shortening, water, and cocoa; pour over flour-sugar mixture and mix well. Combine remaining ingredients and add all at once to batter; mixing well. Pour into greased, lightly floured 13" X 9" X 2" pan and bake at 400° for 35 to 40 minutes or until it tests done. (For sheet cake use a 16" X 11" X 1" pan; bake at 400° for 20 minutes. )

Let cool 10 to 15 minutes while preparing frosting.

Dream Cake Frosting

½ cup (1 stick) margarine
3½ tablespoons cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 pound powdered sugar, sifted
2/3 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine margarine, cocoa, and milk in saucepan; heat slowly and bring to boil. Add remaining ingredients; beat well and spread over cake while it is still warm. Leave in pan until ready to serve. Cut into squares.
